18 year old Joshua Parker pitches his line of maple products on Episode 5, Season 8. Joshua has been making maple syrup since he was 11 years old and describes it as a high-energy super food. His obsession with maple began after a school field trip where he learned to how to make natural syrup from tree sap. Essentially you tap the tree, extract the sap and boil it to remove excess water. When he got home he set up a crude fort made of tarps and plywood between two trees and began making his first real maple syrup.
Three years later he had moved his operation into a small building with cement floors and a larger boiling evaporator. Fast forward a few more years and Joshua was already raising capital from investors to begin producing syrup for national distribution. In 2015 he caught his lucky break when he was invited to be a guest on Glenn Beck’s radio show for an interview about his business. The exposure accelerated his success and helped get his products on the shelves of more than 500 stores.
Real maple syrup is a great natural sweetener that is loaded with antioxidants and has a lower glycemic index than sugar. Ounce for ounce it contains more antioxidants than cantaloupe and tomato. Maple contains beneficial minerals and nutrients like riboflavin, thiamin, manganese, zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, selenium, and potassium.
Parker’s Maple brings delicious all-natural raw syrup, straight from the tree to your pancakes, but they also have a couple other innovative maple products. Real Maple Butter is great spread you can use like you would peanut butter. Try it on fruit , toast, oatmeal, waffles, sandwiches, and more. Their Maple Cotton Candy is a healthier version of the sugar laden stuff you’re used to and has only 114 calories.
