Sadly many people can’t enjoy traditional ice cream, like those suffering from diary allergies and Celiac disease. This was the case for inventor Gabe Wolff who struggled with not being able to indulge in his favorite frozen treats. So he created his own recipe for ice cream that contains no diary, no gluten, no sugar, no fat, no eggs, no nuts, no soy and is completely vegan.
The base for this ice cream substitute is pea protein, which is a flour made from milled peas. Other ingredients in Wink Frozen Desserts include vegetable glycerin, agave, tapioca, xanthan gum, monk fruit extract, guar gum, stevia, baking soda, cocoa powder, and cinnamon. Wink’s distribution is growing but if you can’t find it in a store near you, you can also order online and have it shipped to you with dry ice. Each pint of Wink contains only 100 calories.
Update: Wink Frozen Desserts is no longer in business.
