Emergensee Personal Security App

Emergensee was a personal security app which allowed users to share their GPS location during an emergency and live-stream video and audio. Emergensee was founded by Phil Reitnour and former policeman Jason Friedberg in 2012. Before appearing on Shark Tank, Phil had invested nearly all of his money into developing the app, close to 3 million dollars. Emergensee failed to secure an investment form the Sharks, but the app was downloaded by hundreds of thousands of users after the episode aired. However, the short term success was not enough to recoup Reitnour’s investments, who later declared bankruptcy and faced lawsuits for his unpaid debts. Sadly, Reitnour’s body was found in Philly’s Schuylkill River with a gunshot wound to the head in September 2017, an apparent suicide.
