FlexScreen Flexible Window Screen

Window screens have around since the mid-1800s. They are among the most useful household items ever invented. Prior to screens, people suffered from oppressive heat in their homes with closed windows and doors. Had they opened the windows, they would have been assaulted by the likes of wasps, flies and mosquitoes and in danger of contracting infectious diseases. We have continued to appreciate screens ever since. Sure, there are problems: bent, damaged aluminum frames; flimsy, easily torn mesh; the Herculean tasks of installing and removing; and an obstructed view to the outside. But we figured that was the price to pay to have fresh air coming in to our homes safely and comfortably.

Thankfully, Joe Altieri was not so accepting. Joe worked in the window industry for more than 15 years, and during those years, a large part of his time was spent dealing with his customers’ problems with screens. He could sympathize with their frustrations. He began to think those magic words to inventors: There has to be a better way!

Like so many inventors before him, Joe went to work in his garage to find that better way. After years of trial and error, he had the world’s first and only flexible window screen. The spring-steel PVC-coated flexible frame is all but indestructible. Go ahead—throw it from the top of a five-story building if you need proof. The mesh is tear-resistant. There is no hardware needed for installing. Simply bend the sides of the screen and fit it into the track. The screen hides behind a pocket so that you get maximum fresh air through your open window (minus those pesky bugs) and a drastically improved view.

Joe received the necessary patents, found investment partners, and established his company, FlexScreen. He has followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both successful entrepreneurs, who had created cooperative and competent teams as well as healthy

You have your choice of five mesh options:

  • “Standard” is the most economical mesh. It keeps bugs out and lets fresh air in.
  • “Flexview” adds an unimpeded view of the outdoors.
  • “Flexview Clean” adds a hydrophobic water-repelling coating that helps to keep your screens clean.
  • “Flexview Tuff” is for pet lovers. It adds the ultimate tear-resistant mesh.
  • “Flexview Solar” blocks 60% of UV radiation, keeping rooms cool on the sunniest of days and reducing the risk of your carpet and furniture fading.

FlexScreen has won multiple awards, including Window and Door Magazine’s “Crystal Achievement Award” for the Most Innovative Window Product of 2015, and Door and Window Market Magazine’s “Reader’s Choice Award,” Favorite Window Product for 2016, 2017, and 2018.
