The distinct aroma of autumn is in the air. Leaves turn red and gold and drift to the ground. Only the ivy is blooming. Swarms of birds blacken the sky as they head south. In the Braithwaite home, as in tens of thousands across the US, it’s time to go pumpkin hunting.
It’s the same every year. The kids are asking when we will go to the pumpkin patch—more and more insistently each passing day. The day comes and there they are, waiting in the car for mom and dad, then chattering all the way in between “How much longer?” There are thousands of pumpkins to choose from—it’s a wonder the kids ever agree on just one. But they do, and then there are hay rides and corn mazes and pumpkin ice cream and kettle corn. It’s a quieter ride home.
It’s the same every year. Time to carve the pumpkin and there is nary a kid in sight. One is cleaning her room. One is doing his homework. One is outside raking up leaves. All better than digging that disgusting, slimy goop (aka pulp and fiber) out of the pumpkin. That’s left to mom and dad. It’s disgusting to them also, so dad Daryl is determined to find a better way. The result is his business, Halloween Moments, and its product, the Pumpkin Glove Scraper Cleaning and Carving Kit.
Pumpkin Glove Scraper Cleaning and Carving Kits
The kit includes a latex glove with an elongated nylon sleeve that comes up past your elbow to protect your arm and sleeve from the cold, wet goop. At the hand portion of the glove, instead of fingers, there is a sturdy, plastic scoop with a serrated aluminum blade for scraping the inside of the pumpkin and scooping out the goop. Both gloves and knives are dishwasher safe.

Entrepreneur Daryl Braithwaite stepped into the Shark Tank seeking a $300,000 investment in exchange for a 10% equity stake in his business, Halloween Moments.
The valuation proved to be a hurdle for the Sharks. Daymond John noted that the company boasted an abundance of existing partners and had already secured a significant sum of capital. Recognizing the potential burden this posed to his investment, Daymond opted out.
Mark Cuban echoed a similar sentiment, expressing his reservations about the level of risk inherent in the business. As the pitch unfolded, the remaining Sharks followed suit, each acknowledging challenges associated with Halloween Moments. Ultimately, no offers were made, and Daryl left the Shark Tank without a deal.
