There was a Fourth of July barbecue coming up and Thomas needed an outfit to wear—something that fit the occasion as well as his personal style. Of course, he didn’t really need to worry. Gina and Scott Davis would take care of him. They had never let him down. They bought fabric, created a pattern and made a Hawaiian print button-down shirt. Perfect! It fit his island “live and let live” vibe as well as his more preppie tendencies.
Thomas was the rock star of the barbecue. People were taking his picture and asking where he got such a great-looking, well-fitting shirt. The other pups noticed . . . . Other pups? Yes, Thomas was a Pomapoo, a Pomeranian poodle and Gina and Scott his doting human parents.
Thomas had been wearing clothing since he was six months old, and he loved being dolled up. Gina loved creating custom clothing for him. She was well equipped, with her degree in fashion design and experience in buying, selling and designing fashions—for humans.
It all translated perfectly into her creativity and skill in producing premium togs for Thomas, and it remained a favorite hobby while Gina continued her career in the fashion industry. Until demand for her high-quality, imaginative designer duds for dogs resulted in an online business. Gina and Scott founded Dog Threads and Gina quit her day job. Scott adds his success as a global eCommerce professional with specialized knowledge in business development, digital strategy, customer-centric marketing and the all-important web metrics.
Their mission is to provide fun, quality, durable products, ethically made and environmentally responsible. Most Dog Threads are sewn in the U.S. by local seamstresses who are paid a fair wage and work in pleasant surroundings. Sweaters are produced in partnership with a like-minded knitting company in Ukraine. Scrap fabric is recycled for use as stuffing in animal beds that are then donated to shelters.
The Dog Threads mission includes seeing the business as a way to help less fortunate animals live happy, healthy lives. Gina and Scott donate a portion of all sales to non-profit animal rescues across the country. For each quarter, they select a new rescue to be able to support as many such organizations as possible.
There are Dogs Threads for all dogs: from the young and rambunctious to the old and unflappable; from a tiny Chinese Crested to a giant Great Dane. And since dogs personalities often match that of their human parents, their shirts can match also! Many of the designs are available in men’s, women’s and children’s sizes.
The variety of designs guarantee you will find fashions to suit you and/or your furry buddy, including the Oxford button-down, outdoorsy red-plaid flannel, camouflage shirt, cozy sweaters, pocket Tees, or a rakish silk bandana scarf (suggested only for four-legged “rakes”).
