Remento was founded by Charlie Greene, inspired by a personal experience within his own family. When his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he and his sister realized they had very few videos or recordings that captured her personality and memories. This led them to create a series of recorded conversations, which provided more than just a collection of stories—it deepened their relationships and preserved their family history in a meaningful way.
From this experience, Greene developed Remento as a platform to help other families capture and share their own histories. The service provides tools for recording, organizing, and preserving memories in a way that is both simple and meaningful.
Users begin by selecting storytelling prompts, which can be customized or chosen from Remento’s expert-curated library. Prompts can also be inspired by uploaded photos. Once prompts are set, the storyteller receives weekly reminders via email or text message, encouraging them to record their memories. Users can adjust the frequency of these prompts based on their preferences.
Storytellers record their responses using any device with internet access. No apps, logins, or downloads are required. After submission, Remento’s technology converts the spoken words into a polished transcript or a flowing narrative. Users can refine the text, adjust the writing style, and share the stories with family members.
Once the collection of stories is complete, Remento compiles them into an 8”x10” hardcover book. The final product includes written stories, photos, and QR codes that allow readers to listen to the original recordings. The standard package includes one printed book of up to 200 pages, with additional copies available for purchase.
Remento operates on an annual subscription model, providing one year of storytelling prompts, unlimited access to recordings, and a digital archive where all stories and photos are securely stored. Users can download their memories at any time. If the subscription is not renewed, existing recordings remain accessible, but new stories cannot be recorded without an active plan.
