Ash & Anvil (Ash & Erie) Clothing for Short Guys

At 5’6″ and 5’8″, Detroit entrepreneurs Steven Mazur and Eric Huang are all too familiar with the struggle of finding clothes that fit well. Off the rack clothing isn’t designed for short guys, with sleeves that are too long, pants that need to be rolled up, collars that are too wide, and shirts that hang down to their knees. Despite the fact that 33% of American men are 5′ 8″ or shorter, there just aren’t a lot of options for clothing that actually fits them and looks good.

In an effort to resolve this issue once and for all, Steven and Eric spent 6 months sizing short guys of all shapes, asking questions about their biggest struggles with clothes. Some said finding sleeves that didn’t make their hands disappear was a challenge. Some complained that shirts were either too baggy or so tight that the buttons bulged on their frames. Others said they just wanted a good looking shirt that they didn’t have to tuck in.

Steven and Eric started by designing a classic button-down shirt using everything they had learned from their focus groups. They perfected their prototypes and ran a successfully funded Indiegogo campaign in 2015. That’s when Ash & Anvil (now Ash & Erie) really took off, and they have continued to listen to their customer’s feedback as they add more products to their growing line of solutions for short guys.

Now with two signature collections of stylish button-downs, they have a perfectly fitting shirt for every occasion. The Classic Collection of everyday shirts are available in solids and patterns ranging from plaid to gingham, in traditional and contemporary colors. They’re comfortable enough for casual daily wear but also look great as work or formal attire. The Leland Collection uses the finest fabrics with lay-flat buttons and seams, and can easily be dressed up or down. They have a refined collar and a younger, more modern cut. Ash & Erie shirts are super-soft, and are made of 100% pre-shrunk cotton for a fit that’s made to last, wash after wash. With more than five hundred 5-star reviews, it seems that Steven and Eric’s diligent work is paying off.

The newest arrival to the Ash and Erie family is their line of Slim Fit Denim Jeans with inseams starting at 25″. They’re made of 99% cotton and 1% elastene, which adds a slight stretch for extra comfort.

Both Steven and Eric bring their unique backgrounds in business and creative design to the table with Ash & Erie. Before starting the brand, Steven was a Venture For America fellow, where he spent two years in low-cost cities working at startups with the aim of improving job creation. Eric worked as a Web Designer, Developer and Venture For America fellow as well, serving as a leader in revitalizing entrepreneurship.
