Do not let the bikini-clad celebrities mislead you with their selfies. Many women wear one-piece swimsuits that continue to grow in popularity. The classic one-piece suits are more elegant and more flattering than bikinis. After all, not many women are Sports Illustrated-ready. The coverage and support of a one-piece gives you more confidence as you frolic in the water (jumping waves, surfing, wakeboarding); you don’t have to worry about losing part of your swimsuit. There is also less skin exposed to have to protect from sun damage. And with a one-piece swimsuit, you can slip on a skirt or shorts and go anywhere. With a midi skirt and cute ballet flats, you’re all set for post-beach fine dining.
Elyce Billany has always preferred the look of one-piece swimsuits. Then she and her husband Nathan went on a “babymoon” to Jamaica when they were expecting their first baby. Elyce spent more time in the cramped beach restroom than on the beach. All day long, every time nature called, she had to work the swimsuit down and yank it back up—even more of an ordeal when the suit was wet and sandy. It was exhausting. She looked around for a one-piece that was easier to take off. There was nothing. Elyce knew that she had to do it. She and Nathan had had a natural soap company, so they would go into business again, the Byoót Company, to produce stylish swimsuits that can be taken off easily—that could be unbuttoned!
The Byoót Swimsuit: Fashionable and Functional
Elyce and Nathan work with a tried-and-true manufacturer in New York who specializes in swim and active wear. Together, they produce swimsuits in the finest fabric that maintains its shape and vibrant color. Elyce’s brilliant innovation was the addition of buttons, two on each hip. Undo the buttons and swing the part of the suit covering your butt down and forward, out of the way. Reverse the process and the suit is quickly and easily fastened. No muss, no fuss. But the suit is so much more than that.
- The fabric is high tech, 86% nylon and 14% Spandex. It has a four-way stretch, dries quickly and can be machine-washed in cold water (but not machine-dried). The fabric is also moisture wicking, which means it pulls moisture from your skin to the exterior of the fabric where it evaporates, and you stay comfortable without that awful damp, sticky feeling.
- The elastic seams are reinforced for superior durability, and the straps adjust easily.
- The Byoót suit comes in an appealing selection of solid colors (black, red and navy) and patterns (floral, stripe and nautical), with more to come.
For anyone who starts hyperventilating at the mere thought of trying on swimsuits, Byoót has you covered there also. They offer a free virtual fitting via Zoom. Make an appointment and, in 10 minutes, your own personal stylist will make sure you get a swimsuit that is the perfect style and perfect fit. Ask about their service of providing you with a customized suit.
New York Lifestyles Magazine included the Byoót swimsuit in their list of “must-haves” to beat the heat and have a more comfortable, more stylish summer.
Byoót also is one of the “12 Best Swimwear Brands” on the Pretty Progressive website that supports, among other things, ethical shopping.
Byoót Gives Back
Each year, Elyce and Nathan will support a charity that makes a difference in the lives of women and children. For 2021, they are donating a portion of their sales to Every Mother Counts, an organization whose mission is to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother everywhere. The programs are community based to meet the needs of women who are marginalized by broadening access to qualified maternity care providers and access to essential resources.
