Cheek’d began as a stack of cards that served as ice breakers when meeting someone you may be interested in dating. The concept was similar to a dating app but required you to work up the nerve to hand someone a Cheek’d card, which had a light-hearted pickup line and a link to your online profile. If the recipient was interested, they could then contact you through the Cheek’d website.
Cheek’d was created by Lori Cheek and had some initial success but later faced a lawsuit over the rights to the card concept, which was ultimately dismissed. Since then Cheek’d has altered its name to Cheekd, and developed an app in place of the original Cheek’d cards.
The Cheekd app uses a cross-platform low energy Bluetooth technology, which fosters hyper local engagement. The app connects people in real time, versus virtual time. Connections begin in person; Cheekd helps you take the next step and continue the conversation online. Cheekd ensures you ‘Never Miss a Connection’; thanks to this new Bluetooth technology.
