Ladies, don’t you hate when you can’t get all the lipstick out of the tube? Lipstick is made that way; at least 1/3 of it is needed to anchor the lipstick in the tube. Jill Quillin didn’t like wasting all that money, so she founded her company Divine Innovations and created LipStix ReMix, a kit that allows women to scoop out that “anchor” and mix it up with others to make new shades.
The kit included spatulas, mixing cup, lipstick mold and tubes for your new lipstick.
- Scoop out every last bit of lipstick from the tube(s).
- Mix it up in the cup and melt it in the microwave for about 45 seconds.
- Pour it into the Magic Molder and freeze for 10 minutes.
- Take the cap off the mold and pop the new lipstick into a tube.
It was a fun, creative and money-saving product.
Jill wanted an investment for marketing, specifically for an infomercial. There was intense (sometimes nasty) haggling among Barbara, Daymond and Kevin Harrington. In the end, the three went in together. With a great product and those sharks involved, LipStix ReMix was sure to succeed. It did—for about four years. It was doing really well when, in 2013, Jill decided to close the business. She announced it on Facebook without an explanation, which left her many customers crushed and trying to figure out why. We are unlikely ever to know.
Lipstix Remix is no longer in business.
