Honey Bunchies Honey Bars

A family-owned business based in Longmont, Colorado, Honey Bunchies is the brainchild of Ed Payne, a former Captain in the United States Air Force. Ed, together with his wife Jennifer, daughter Kendra, and son Edward, has built a thriving business centered around the creation of their gourmet honey bars.

Ed Payne embarked on a journey to recreate a snack his mother had made decades earlier, using only the ingredients available in her pantry. With no actual recipe to follow, Ed spent months in the kitchen experimenting until he accidentally created the now-famous Honey Bunchies Gourmet Honey Bars. Named after his wife’s nickname, Honey Bunchie, the bars have become a family affair, with each member playing a crucial role in the business.

With a focus on using simple, all-natural ingredients, Honey Bunchies offers two delicious flavors: Peanut Pecan and Coconut Almond. The main ingredient in each bar is honey, which comprises 42% of the total weight. Each 1.4-ounce bar is a sweet and salty delight, packed with nutrients and energy to keep consumers going throughout the day.

The Peanut Pecan bars feature honey, sunflower kernels, milk, butter, tapioca syrup, peanuts, pecans, and vanilla. Meanwhile, the Coconut Almond bars contain honey, unsweetened coconut cream, sunflower kernels, almonds, tapioca syrup, coconut shavings, and vanilla. Each flavor caters to different dietary restrictions, with Coconut Almond bars being gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, peanut-free, and grain-free.

Each batch of Honey Bunchies bars is handcrafted and takes three days to produce, with the family utilizing some equipment, such as a cutting machine, to assist in the process. As a result, the gourmet honey bars maintain their artisanal quality, ensuring a delicious and satisfying snack with each bite.

From Humble Beginnings to Nationwide Success

Ed Payne started the business by selling Honey Bunchies locally, approaching small retailers in the community and handing out honey bars from a cooler. The company’s big break came when Whole Foods picked up their products, helping the brand expand across Colorado and eventually the United States. Today, Honey Bunchies Gourmet Honey Bars can be found in grocery stores nationwide and internationally, as well as online.

Honey Bunchies is proud to be a veteran, woman, and family-owned business, with Ed Payne’s military background providing valuable skills in running a successful operation. The company also prides itself on being Colorado-made, showcasing its strong connection to the local community.
