Maybe you have a child who has a “discriminating palate” (aka “picky eater”). Or one who cannot have dairy or gluten products. Maybe your child’s best friend is growing up vegetarian, and your little Sammy likes the idea of protecting animals. Maybe you have one of each! It’s a real struggle to prepare meals that are nutritious, that fit various dietary needs and that children happily eat. That’s where Yumble Kids come in.
Yumble Kids is a subscription service that delivers to your home prepared, healthy, delicious meals for kids aged 1 to 12. The culinary team behind the meals are experts with allergies and dietary restrictions, so vegetarian, gluten-free, egg-free, and dairy-free meals are always available, and the meals in age-appropriate portions are made with fresh seasonal produce and farm-fresh proteins—no preservatives or refined sugar.
The family-owned, USDA-inspected kitchen follows USDA guidelines: Meals are cooked, cooled, and packaged in insulated boxes with frozen gel packs to arrive at your door just as fresh as when they were packed. They make a great meal whether eaten cold, at room temperature or warmed up in the microwave. As an extra added attraction, the food trays are degradable.
Joanna Parker, chef and co-founder of Yumble Kids with her husband David, spent two years developing healthy, kid-friendly recipes for her three children. She was so happy with the meals that she wanted to see if other kids loved them as much as her children did. She offered to provide dinners for a week to a “mommy group” on Facebook. The enthusiastic response confirmed that other parents had the same problem as she had feeding children. She prepared those first meals in her kitchen and delivered them herself. As demand grew, her kitchen spread to other areas of the house, and she enlisted the aid of her husband and in-laws to deliver the meals. And the day came when she needed a professional kitchen and FedEx for the deliveries.
There are three subscription plans: 6, 12 or 24 meals per week. Conveniently, those plans are flexible. You can pause the subscription, skip some days, increase the number of meals or cancel—all with a click of the mouse on the website.
Your first delivery will be a welcome package that contains a subscription guide for parents, coloring sheets for the kids as well as food trivia cards and Yumble collectible coins that can be traded in for prizes. There’s a Star Chart for the front of the fridge for kids to color in squares or mark them with stickers for each meal they complete.
Each week, you can choose from at least 20 delicious, imaginative, fun meals. When the kids get older, they have even more fun choosing their own meals. Just a few examples:
- Cheesy Rotini with steamed green beans (vegetarian)
- Wake Me Up Oatmeal with apple-blueberry compote (dairy, soy, egg and gluten free and vegetarian)
- Pizza Panini with corn, organic veggie sticks and organic trail mix (egg free)
- Cheeseburger Pocket with loaded mashed potatoes (soy free, egg free)
- Protein Poppers are a very popular snack made from sunbutter, coconut, oats, and chocolate chips (dairy, egg and gluten free and vegetarian)
Every meal is so appetizing that children don’t need to be coaxed to try new foods!
