PurseCase, a smartphone case with a strap and pockets for storing credit cards and cash, was created by Jenn Deese and Kelley Coughlan. The two women had worked together before, co-founding a public relations firm called Melrose PR. Before appearing on Shark Tank, PurseCase ran a successful Kickstarter campaign and had roughly $30,000 in pre-orders.
PurseCase secured an investment from Lori Greiner and had some success after the show, with sales quickly topping $400,000. PurseCase was later sold through QVC, retailers like Staples, and by international distributors. As the business grew and faced increasing pressures, the partnership became stressed and Jenn sold her shares of the company to Lori and Kelley. PurseCase was featured in a follow up segment on the TV series Beyond The Tank where they discussed the challenges and loss of a co-founding partner.
