Julie and Aaron Menitoff’s catering business came to a screeching halt when COVID-19 reached the US. All of our traditional celebrations were canceled: weddings; bar mitzvahs and quinceaneras; birthday, graduation and anniversaries parties, as well as fundraising galas, corporate-wide dinners, and conventions.
That left Julie and Aaron in a precarious spot. They had owned the successful and in-demand Wellington Hospitality Group for 20 years in Palm Beach, Florida. In addition to serving clients near and far, they often catered events at a nearby village, Wellington, known worldwide for its equestrian community and national and international equestrian events. It’s been referred to as “the place where Prince Charles plays polo.” Among their “A” list clients were Prince Harry, Venus and Serena Williams, Bill Gates and his family members, and Bruce Springsteen.
With all their expertise, talent and ingenuity, Julie and Aaron certainly were not going to just “roll over and play dead” until their industry resurrected. Instead, they “rolled over” their business. People were not going to stop indulging in gourmet treats or sending special gifts to loved ones they could not visit in person. They teamed up with Rachel Solomon and Angel Jerez to create Boarderie, the first and only company shipping a beautiful tapestry of arranged artisan cheese and charcuterie boards. The team selected the highest quality, award-winning cheeses and impeccably sourced meats, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate and crackers from artisan producers in Italy, France, England, Spain, Turkey, Canada, Croatia and the US. And, perhaps most important, they developed a technology by which the boards are vacuum-sealed, placed in a reusable wooden box with reusable Nordic Ice packs, and shipped overnight, arriving at your home chilled at 40°F.
In addition to the website, Boarderie’s successful and in-demand boards are sold at Williams Sonoma, Neiman Marcus, and Doordash Nationwide.
