Mark Tsigounis, a U.S. Navy veteran and avid adventurer, founded Hibear after realizing the need for a versatile and sustainable insulated bottle during his travels and outdoor excursions. Tsigounis’ experience in the Navy taught him the value of multi-functional gear, as every item carried had to serve more than one purpose. This mindset inspired him to create the All-Day Adventure Flask, a unique insulated bottle designed to craft various beverages while also serving as an everyday water bottle.
Prior to founding Hibear, Tsigounis worked as a financial consultant and advisor at reputable firms like Fidelity, Merrill Lynch, and E*Trade. He also co-founded Morea Brands, an online premium brand reseller focused on Amazon distribution and fulfillment by Amazon. However, his passion for adventure and the outdoors ultimately led him to establish Hibear.
The All-Day Adventure Flask is the flagship product of Hibear, and it has garnered significant recognition for its innovative design and versatility. Crafted from 18/8 medical-grade stainless steel, the flask is durable and sturdy, with a silicone sleeve protecting the bottom from small drops. Its ultra-wide mouth and electropolished interior make it easy to clean, eliminating the need for a bottle brush.
One of the unique features of the All-Day Adventure Flask is its thermal core, which can be frozen to keep cold beverages chilled without diluting them with ice. Additionally, the core acts as a muddler for cocktail hour. The flask’s lid can be flipped upside down, allowing it to be used for pour-over coffee brewing.
The All-Day Adventure Flask is designed to handle a wide range of beverages, from coffee and tea to cold brew, cocktails, wine, and even beer. Its versatility is further enhanced by the inclusion of a 355ml stainless steel filter for infusions, tea, and cold brew, as well as a strainer for shaking cocktails.
Hibear’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the design and materials used for the All-Day Adventure Flask. The vacuum-insulated shell, made from tough kitchen-grade stainless steel, is nonabsorbent of flavors, reducing the need for single-use plastic bottles. Hibear offsets its carbon footprint and supports independent artists by featuring their artwork on the bottle’s under sleeve.
The All-Day Adventure Flask has received numerous accolades, including the 2020 Red Dot Design Award and the 2021 iF Design Award, recognizing its innovative and functional design. In 2020, Hibear successfully raised funds through a Kickstarter campaign, exceeding its initial goal by ten times.
Recently, Hibear secured a $150,000 pre-seed co-investment from the Reno Seed Fund and FundNV, further validating the company’s potential and the demand for its innovative products.
Tsigounis, an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker, two-time Ironman, ultrarunner, and U.S. Navy veteran, has poured his passion for adventure and sustainability into Hibear. The company’s mission is to create sustainable adventure products that encourage users to pack less and do more, while contributing to the protection of natural spaces.
