Spikeball is poised to become the next great American sport. There are already over 250,000 players in the U.S. and more than 1,000 nationally ranked teams. This two on two high-intensity sport is a mashup of volleyball and foursquare.
The game starts with a serve, then teams have up to three touches on the ball before spiking it into a trampoline-like net in center court, after which the other team must try to return the ball with their own spike. The rally continues this way until one team fails to make a return. You can use any part of your body to touch the ball, as long as you don’t have two hands on the ball at once.
There are no boundaries, making it an ideal game for the beach, park, campus, or backyard. If your team has what it takes you can even enter into one of the 100+ tournaments held each year. It’s a vigorous and challenging game that is sure to get your heart pumping.
